Buying The Perfect Engagement Ring Made Easy

By Alan Lee

An Engagement ring consists of a metal ring, generally on either the left or right ring finger. In certain countries it is worn on the base of the left ring finger. In other parts of the world, it is worn on the right ring finger. The engagement ring you choose will be one of the most enduring pieces of your wedding day. Engagement ring is important element of becoming married, but they are also a long-lasting symbol of your love and commitment. Therefore, you'll want to choose jewelry that is timeless and high quality. Ultimately, you'll also want to be an educated consumer who knows what you're getting for your dollar.

The designs and materials used for engagement rings have changed considerably, over the years and are generally, a precious band mounted with a diamond or a gem. The present day fashions lean towards gold, platinum or silver having a single diamond, and, only recently, thanks to heavy doses of advertising, has the diamond ring caught the imagination of people, in Western cultures, especially. Sometimes, a man may deliberately buy his woman an expensive engagement ring, to signify the permanency of the relationship.

One of the things that you might want to do is to get something that's a little bit unique and different. If that's what you're looking for, you probably don't want to go to a chain store where everything looks the same. Instead, you can go to local jewelers, some of whom likely hand-make their rings and other jewelry. You can also design something yourself, or have it designed for you, so that you'll have something that no one else has. Another choice is to go and buy a ring that's not traditionally an engagement ring so that you'll be unique and different.

Another option is know what type of jewelry she wears - from what kind of metal, to whether it's contemporary or classic, even perhaps "borrowing" a ring to take with you to the jewelry store, which will also help you, know her ring size.

While asking yourself if it will be a design you'll be comfortable wearing every day for the rest of your life. Style of wedding bands the traditional plain gold wedding band will be in style for years to come. If that's too plain for you, consider a beaded edge or an engraved style. For a slightly flashier look, what about channel-set diamonds? Ultimately, wedding band should be that you feel is expressive of your style and personality. I've heard of a couple that chose to have wedding bands custom-made that resembled bicycle gears, reflecting their mutual love of bike-riding. There's really no wrong answer as to what style you should choose.

Engagement Rings have evolved extensively over the years. The classic metal band now includes diamonds, gemstones, interesting shapes, chic styles, artistic designs, etc. For a woman her Engagement Ring is the most treasured piece of jewel. A woman is likely to look at her Engagement Ring more than a million times, thus it is essential that an engagement ring has the design, the warmth and the love that will make her elated every time she looks at it. - 16651
