How Pay Per Click Beats the Yellow Pages Any Day

By Ryan Hudson

If you are wondering whether or not pay per click is better than a Yellow Pages ad for getting customers aware of your company, you are going to want to understand how important pay per click is for your company. Last century, the Yellow Pages played an important role, but now pay per click has taken over and is now the best way to get your name (and contact information) out for people to see. If you don't know why the Yellow Pages are dead, you may be a bit confused. Here is why you need pay per click for your business.

Does your house even have a telephone book? If you have one, you probably rarely look at it, and it spends most of the time collecting dust in a cupboard. You may be surprised to learn that your telephone book is a couple of years out of date. When you need a telephone number, you probably go on the Internet to find it. Entering a number into your favorite search engine is going to give you instant and accurate results. Sure, you may think that there is a lot of bad sites on the Internet that are going to waste your time, but if you search for something specific, like a business name, chances are you are going to find it really quickly. You don't need to be a computer genius to figure out that it is a lot quicker to search on the computer than in the Yellow Pages.

You shouldn't get a pay per click advertisement just because it is more convenient than the Yellow Page ad. A pay per click ad is going to reach a lot of people - the only requirement is Internet access, which most people have in their homes and almost everyone has access to somewhere. Plus, it is easier to find something online than it is in a book, so a pay per click makes a lot of sense. Another advantage is that you are going to have a wider audience, instead of just the local Yellow Pages area. A pay per click campaign is going to give you access to anyone on the net.

A lot of Yellow Page directories have gone entirely online, meaning that people are going to get on their computer to find the information anyways. The nail in the Yellow Pages coffin is the fact that many people aren't getting free Yellow Page directories anymore. If you put a Yellow Page ad in, the number of people who see your company's information decreases. A pay per click is going to increase that number to everyone on the Internet.

The next time someone asks you why you don't have a Yellow Page ad, you can tell them that you are using your advertising budget wisely by investing in a pay per click campaign. - 16651
