Tips For Buying Clothing for Your Children Online

By Katie Wilber

Many people forgo the amazing time and money saving convenience of online shopping because of the risks. Shopping online for clothing for your children can be particularly tricky. Online shoppers aren't able to touch the materials, ask the sales person questions and there is always some residual fear about the security of online shopping.

On top of the questions about fit and quality, shipping, returns, and the security of our transactions top the list of concerns. Here are a few tips and strategies for making online shopping for children's clothing a stress free process.

Verify The Reputation Of The Store First!

Before you even start looking, make sure the site youre at is safe. This means a secure transaction, you can tell by looking at the URL if it is HTTPS then the site is secure.

Online feedback and reviews are a great source of information. Because people are more likely to post bad reviews than good, it's fair to assume that no news is good news. That is, if you cannot find any bad reviews then it's probably an okay place to shop provided you've taken the other steps presented here.

Online resources like The Better Business Bureau, are good references to make sure a business is well established and takes care of their customers.

Become aware of the brands the store carries. Are they good brands or designers with a good reputation? Does the brand hold up? Does it hold true to sizing charts or do items tend to run large or small?

Read The Product Descriptions Closely

An accurate product description will include what the item is made of, washing instructions and sometimes even the sizing.

A picture, or pictures, of the clothing item is imperative. Children can be finicky and the wrong shade of green can mean the difference between a favorite sweater and one that gets stuffed under the bed.

Be Aware Of Store Policies

Before you hit "PAY" it's important to know what you're getting into. How long will it take to ship to you, for example, is an important consideration.

Can you return the item if it doesn't fit or doesn't meet your needs or expectations. Check out the return policies and make sure you keep all documentation in the event that you do need to return an item. Know Your Child's Measurements

Size Matters

Finally, its important to know your childs size and measurements. We all know that you can fit into a size 8 in one brand and in another brand youre a size 10 " its enough to drive a person crazy. However if you know your childs measurements then you can determine what size is appropriate for them for any brand " no more guessing games. Clothing websites should provide you with a sizing chart, so you can get the right size for your child.

Share the wealth. Tell others about your online shopping experiences. If you have a bad experience by all means post a review however don't forget to post a good review when you have a good experience. Good reviews help as much as the bad ones and they ensure the stores you love stay in business. - 16651
