Music can be added back from iPod to computer, but to be able to do this you need to do a series of steps so your music folder, which is usually hidden, becomes visible.

You will need a software called TinkerTool in order to find the hidden files if you are using Mac. The software can be downloaded from the internet and when you have done that already, plug in your iPod to your computer and then launch iTunes. The Relaunch Finder should be clicked then, while the iPod's icon on your desktop should be double clicked. Inside this folder are several other folders, and one of these is the music folder. Now, drag this to your desktop and copy the files from your iPod.

On the other hand, if you are using Windows, just plug your iPod and launch iTunes. Pick the iPod icon that you see listed on the iTunes source list. Then, check the Manually Manage Songs Playlist option and the Disk Use option. Look for the iPod icon in My Computer. Proceed to Tools Menu, Folder Options and then View Tap.
