Here's what you do...
Get out your phone directory and make a list of the fanciest restaurants in town, then put on some nice business type clothes and go pay them a visit. Ask to speak to the manager and make them an offer they can't in all good conscience turn down!
Every good business wants to do more for their patrons (or at least they should). As long as it is clearly cost effective - or free, they will jump at the chance! Here's a promotion that is a win-win-win all the way around! It takes advantage of the fact that most good restaurants offer a Sunday brunch.
You are going to arrange to set up a location in the restaurant to do FREE family portraits of the families while they are at the restaurant having brunch!
The great thing is, there's no need to be some photo superstar. As long as you are competent, that's good enough! They will jump all over this one! It gives extra value to the diners, so it's good for them. The restaurant gets a lot of extra goodwill from their patrons, for FREE - so it's good for them. YOU get a ton of new customers (I've gotten as many as 65 families in one day)!
First - Sunday brunch isn't usually attended as well as it could be and here's a way for the restaurant to add "a little something extra". This will eventually improve attendance as happy brunchers tell their friends. By offering a free family photo, they are doing something completely unique and if you continue doing this, word will spread and people will eat there simply because of YOU! And the best part is that it's FREE to the restaurant. - If they have any promotional sense at all, they won't have to think long about this one.
Next - The family attending the brunch gets a FREE family portrait! Do you have any idea how many families, particularly the mother of the family, WANT a family portrait but can never coordinate everyones schedules, so they never get around to having a portrait done? TONS! And BINGO - there they are eating brunch and there you are! The family is already dressed up in their Sunday best.
No trip to the studio, no arguing over what to wear, and so on...
AND it's free and only takes a couple minutes.
Here's what they will be thinking...
"What's the worst that can happen? Well...the worst thing is we won't like the picture and end up tossing it. But maybe, just maybe, (they reason) it will be the best portrait EVER."
There's nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain. Another no brainer decision.
