2008 Box Office Hits By Druti

By Derek Fisch

I have put together a short list of the more popular movies put up on the big screen in 2008. I have chosen a few of the films that I think you might like. Hopefully you will see a couple of movies that you will enjoy.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS: It was a wild night in Las Vegas. Joy and Jack, who had just met, wake up to discover that they are married. They wind up winning a large jackpot at the slot machines, but there is a debate on who gets the money, so they try to settle it in court. The strange ruling is that they must stay together for six months, and see if they can settle their differences. With $3 million on the line, they each try to get the other to give up, as both desire to get the money for themselves.

HAMLET 2: Failed actor Mr. Marshz has found himself teaching theater classes at the high school to uninterested students. When they lose a building at the campus, the school administation feels that the useless theater coarses must be eliminated. With a challenge now in front of him, he sets out to save the theater classes by producing Hamlet 2, a sequel to the original work, which he creates.

WANTED: A young, bored, office worker named Wesley discovers that his father, who he never really knew, is a contract killer. His father is killed, and now he is being recruited into the secret society of killers that his father was a part of. He is transformed from a nobody office worker into the professional killer that that he was destined to become. From there, things get complicated, and many twist and turns follow. Hang on to your seat.

10,000 B.C.: This cinematic production will take you back almost 12,000 years. When rival hunters attack the Yaghai's, they ride off with some of the people, including the lovely Evolet. A strong young hunter, D'Leh, who is in love with her, organizes a band of hunters to chase down these warmongers, and save her, and the rest of the captured tribe members.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: Trying to find his lost brother, professor Trevor Anderson explores caves in Iceland, and that puts him on a journey to the center of earth. This is a newer edition of the 1959 production, that was created from the brilliant book by celbrated writer Jules Verne. Cast includes Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutchinson, Anita Briem, and Seth Myers.

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: This is obviously the next in the sequence to the hugely successful movie Madagascar. The four animal heroes, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo are ready to go back to New York's famous Central Park Zoo, which is home for them all. As oppossed to going home, thanks to those wacky Penguins again, they are off to Africa, for more adventures.

GET SMART: Maxwell Smart (agent 86) is at it again, "and loving it". KAOS vs CONTROL, agents hidden in plants, and all the great one liners. This is a modern day version that looks back at the antics of Maxwell Smart.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL: Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) returns to action, after a long break. This is the most recent movie in the Indiana Jones movies. In this, the latest adventure, an older Indiana takes on the Russians. The Soviets are looking for ancient relics called the Crystal Skulls, which are thought to have secret powers.

STEP BROTHERS: When two child like older men, who both live at home with one parent, find themselves having to live in the same bedroom because their mom and dad get married, you have one crazy situation. Put Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly acting as these two idiots, and the conditions are right for a very fun film. This comedy looks like a best bet for comedy lovers.

Many people will buy films, and views them on their home entertainment system. A new way people are aquiring movies is by downloading them directly from online sources. The internet has many websites that with a membership, you can download virtually any movie ever made. - 16651
